SCHOLARSHIPS

Every year the Lansdale branch makes available several Graduating Seniors scholarships from the North Penn, Souderton Area, Wissahickon, Gwynedd Mercy Academy, Christopher Dock, and Lansdale Catholic High Schools. In an effort to acknowledge and encourage academic excellence, we award these scholarships on the basis of community and school involvement as well as academic achievement. In a typical year, there are 60-80 scholarship applicants and the Lansdale branch has been able to award at least $5,000 each year. Interested students should contact their guidance counselors.

The Lansdale branch of AAUW is proud to offer two Returning Women scholarships each year to mature women who are continuing their education.

The Patricia J Vogel Scholarship was endowed as a memorial to a branch member who let our support make a significant impact in her life. Awarded in 1993 for the first time, this scholarship offers our moral and financial support to women who have been well along in their studies in their quest to develop and improve their careers.

In 1997, the branch implemented the New Perspectives Scholarship which provides an avenue for mature women in the initial stages of their undergraduate studies to receive assistance as they explore academic options open to them.
